چکیده

A 2D nonlinear model for the electrical potential in the edge plasma in a tokamak generates a stiff problem due to the low resistivity in the direction parallel to the magnetic field lines. An asymptotic-preserving method based on a micromacro decomposition is studied in order to have a well-posed problem, even when the parallel resistivity goes to 0. Numerical tests with a finite difference scheme show a bounded condition number for the linearised discrete problem solved at each time step, which confirms the theoretical analysis on the continuous problem.

A Novel Spot-Enhancement Anisotropic Diffusion Method for the Improvement of Segmentation in Two-dimensional Gel Electrophoresis Images, Based on the Watershed Transform Algorithm

Introduction Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DGE) is a powerful technique in proteomics for protein separation. In this technique, spot segmentation is an essential stage, which can be challenging due to problems such as overlapping spots, streaks, artifacts and noise. Watershed transform is one of the common methods for image segmentation. Nevertheless, in 2DGE image segmentation, the no...

Asymptotic-preserving scheme for highly anisotropic non-linear diffusion equations

Heat transfer in magnetically confined plasmas is a process characterized by non-linear and extremely high anisotropic diffusion phenomena. Standard numerical methods, successfully employed in the numerical treatment of classical diffusion problems, are generally inefficient, or even prone to break down, when such high anisotropies come into play, leading thus to the need of new numerical techn...

In this article, some diagnostic systems and the preliminary results of the IR-T1** (Iran-Tokamak 1) are presented. Different diagnostic methods, including an array of soft X-ray detectors, visible spectrometer, electron cyclotron emission detector and electromagnetic measurement systems have been used and the hard disruptive instability occurring in the IR-T1 plasma during an ohmic heating...

Application of iterative Jacobi method for an anisotropic diusion in image processing

Image restoration has been an active research area. Dierent formulations are eective in high qualityrecovery. Partial Dierential Equations (PDEs) have become an important tool in image processingand analysis. One of the earliest models based on PDEs is Perona-Malik model that is a kindof anisotropic diusion (ANDI) lter. Anisotropic diusion lter has become a valuable tool indierent elds of image...

A Hybrid Method for Anisotropic Elliptic Problems Based on the Coupling of an Asymptotic-Preserving Method with the Asymptotic Limit Model

This paper presents a hybrid numerical method to solve efficiently a class of highly anisotropic elliptic problems. The anisotropy is aligned with one coordinateaxis and its strength is described by a parameter ε ∈ (0, 1], which can largely vary in the study domain. Our hybrid model is based on asymptotic techniques and couples (spatially) an Asymptotic-Preserving model with its asymptotic Limi...
